Solo Sushi Ya in Newmarket

Amazing as usual, used to come here when they had a downtown location. Glad that we have a car now and can come pickup great chirashi when we crave it. Would have been nice to have sweet shrimp/uni too for the price.Wasabi and rice is standout

Best sushi and Japanese food in Newmarket (and probably the GTA) . I lived in Japan for three years and Solo Sushi Ya is the real deal. They serve authentic Japanese cuisine at a very reasonable price. Their sushi rice is perfection. The atmosphere of the restaurant itself is special. It really feels like you are walking into a restaurant in Japan.

Their rice in the sushi is really good. Fish is good too

素晴らしい体験 !! This is a fantastic representation of authentic Japanese food. More than just sushi, when I returned to Canada from a 4 year adventure working and eating in Tokyo, this was the only shop that was, and continues to over deliver in terms of quality, customer service and calm atmosphere. Bring your own container for take-out and help reduce waste a little. :)

Food was great, chef was very friendly. Dessert jello is homemade!

First time visit after hearing a lot of good things about this Japanese restaurant. Restaurant was not busy and the server was polite and suitably attentive. Owner/chef was friendly in a professional sort of way. Interior decoration a bit all over the place (ie not all Japanese like) and looks quite tired , could use some update. We had the Omakase, but none of the dish scream "wow" to me. Sushi/sashimi pieces are the usual tuna, salmon, yellow tail, with the sweet shrimp being the most fancy one. There other dishes are ok. The dessert -jello- was just disappointing.

Solo Sushi ya was the cook, server, cashier, and phone order taker. We were so impressed by her work and delicious food. No question about it, 5 stars for the Solo Sushi ya. Absolutely delicious

This spot is the one I always prefer. I eat in plenty of restaurants but to this restaurant I keep coming back again and again. The crew is very warm and the cooking they serve is so yummy. I am always happy to have a decent meal here. Highly recommended.

This is a favorite spot of mine that has delicious and authentic Japanese food! The chef is so kind and he's a delight to talk to. The restaurant has such a cozy and welcoming feel to it as well.The food here is so good and I'm always pleased by the quality of it! I'll definitely be coming back; I love this place!

A small, obscure place that serves the best sushi type food I've ever tasted. Warning, don't tell the owner/boss/cook what you want, instead ask him to serve you whatever he recommends. Pricey, but wonderful food.
